Shepherds Cottage gallery:
We stayed in Shepherds Cottage for the week and loved it! The place was spotless and all the lovely personal touches showed how much the owners care. Very friendly people who make you feel relaxed and comfortable.
The walk into Hawkshead is short and very manageable. We will defiantly stay again in the future.
We booked the cottage next to the farm for 2 weeks - we wanted somewhere accessible to a pub but 'far from the madding crowd'. What a risk....but boy did it pay off! Overlooking Esthwaite Water, this is really in the heart of the lakes. The cottage is perfect, there is a fantastic power shower with loads of hot water after a long day's mountain biking or walking. The all-essential hose is available to wash down the bikes after a mud-splattered day in Grizedale. Lisa and Mike are perfect hosts and Lisa is a fantastic cook! For those of us who need to remain connected (guilty as charged) there is even access to Wi-Fi. If you let Lisa know in the morning, she'll even cook you dinner if you stay in the cottage. Walking and cycling are easy from Howe Farm and we explored Bowness, Grizedale, Windermere and Coniston without driving. In fact our car didn't move for two weeks. After travelling the world in search of a great vacation, this turned out to be one of the best holidays we have ever had. A perfect antidote for a busy life.
